Vegan Charcuterie Board
Charcuterie is derived from the French words for flesh (chair) and cooked (cuit). The word comes from the French origin used to describe a pork-butcher shop. Now, the term is used for cured meat.
This fancy looking platter is usually served as an appetizer prior to a meal, along with a drink or two (usually wine).
Although there aren’t many rules when it comes to assembling a charcuterie board, the common elements do include meat and cheese. This isn’t a problem for vegans anymore, thanks to the rise of plant-based meat and dairy-free cheese!
The board also includes as assortment of bread, fruits, veggies, nuts, dipping sauces and spreads. The key to a perfect board is incorporating at least 1 item from each category and having a variety of flavour profiles.
